Cost Share Application

Did you know that many Eastern Oregon counties (Wallowa, Baker, Union) offer a cost-share program for weed control? Meadowlark submits all applications for you so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork. Cost-share programs typically reimburse landowners 50% of the cost up to $500.

why manage noxious weeds

Weed Management is a Good Neighbor Policy

Did you know landowners are legally required to manage many noxious weeds in Oregon? This is especially important when they threaten to invade neighboring properties. Without good management practices weed populations can expand rapidly to a point where control is no longer feasible. Careful management makes good neighbors to people, stock, and wildlife.

Weed infestations occur over time and usually cannot be cured in a single application. Maintenance visits and monitoring will continue to help reduce weed populations.

Persistence and evaluating results is the key to a successful weed management program. An important preventive measure related to weed control is to stop the weeds from producing viable seed either by spraying, pulling, cutting flower heads or mowing. Environmental conditions and other factors may dictate changes in management practices or selection of herbicides and rates. Adaptation is a key to good control, and we reserve the right to modify recommendations if necessary at time of treatment.

The impact of unmanaged noxious weeds:

  • Reduced land value
  • Increased water erosion and riparian instability
  • Outcompetes native plants and disrupts ecological systems
  • Decreases wildlife habitat
  • Can be toxic to animals & humans
  • Restricts grazing & reduces forage yields
  • Increases surface water evaporation
  • Reduces water tables
  • Reduces recreation opportunities
  • Legally required in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington

We Listen to Your Needs and Concerns

We specialize in working in sensitive areas and with landowners that have safety concerns

No job is too small or large for our professionals. We work with you to formulate a prescription for weed control that fits your needs.

“Meadowlark Land Service has been a lifesaver for our small non-profit since we decided to tackle the weed problem on our 320 acre-property. The land is used by the public for events, hiking, dog walking, horseback riding, camping and more. Needless to say we have to be very careful about when, how and what we spray there. NIkki has been an amazing partner in helping us prioritize, manage our tight budget and respect the health and safety of our guests on the property, including the 4-legged ones. Our land is recovering from it’s weed problem thanks to Meadowlark Land Services.”

Happy Clients

We strive to provide high quality and affordable services tailored to you.

“I had questions regarding the spraying activities, costs, and potential sources of funding assistance for the weed removal. She explained the specifics of treating the specific weeds we were addressing, options for reimbursement for the costs, and then completed the paperwork on our behalf.”

Enterprise, Ore.

“I have worked with Nikki in the past with regard to weed remediation on private property in Wallowa County which I manage on behalf of non-resident owners. I have found Nikki to be responsive, accountable, and highly competent in all aspects of my work with her: communications, documentation, application, and follow up with us to ensure our satisfaction with her work.”

“Meadowlark Land Services and Nikki certainly helped us with a spreading spotted knapweed problem. She was courteous and explained her approach to mitigation, how she would access our property, and what mitigation methods she would use. Some of the terrain on our property within the city limits of Joseph is hazardous. She devised a method to access those areas with caution and aplomb. We have already booked her for the spring of 2020 to mitigate other areas of our property.”
